Spark Announces New Technology - New Service 3DiPM™
3DiPM, (three dimensional interactive product modeling) is an
exciting new Web based technology, designed for the home-consumer
market. With 3DiPM the average home-computer user can interact
with consumer almost any type of consumer product, on-line, in
a manner that allows for its complete 3D rotation.
Spark has pioneered a process, by taking advantage of new cutting
edge software, which will bring this new technology to the homes
of average US consumers. Spark has been producing high-end technical
product representations since its inception, in 1995, but this
new technology earmarks a significant leap into the future. Spark
likens the advance to the evolution from cassette tapes to CD's
and DVD's. "It's just that much better" says Michael
G. Lomb, Spark's President, Founder and Owner. "In the old
days, products could only be represented by static two-dimensional
photographs -- or if we were lucky, a 2D animation. Now, with
3DiPM, we can look at products on a Web site from all angles;
zoom-in and zoom-out, click on working parts to see how they move,
hear the sounds that those mechanisms actually make ... its just
a tremendous improvement".
Lomb estimates, although the technology is widely used in Europe
and by some of the larger manufacturing companies in the U.S.,
that the U.S. market will take some time to fully adapt. "It's
sort of like the introduction of cell phones" states Lomb.
"You see a couple of people with them, here and there at
first, but then in five years everyone has one." Lomb estimates
that the technology is likely to become the norm for consumers
finding products on-line, particularly consumer electronics. Products
such as; automobiles, recreational vehicles, electric razors,
and even apparel such as shoes are the likely 3DiPM candidates.
3DiPM is a service currently provided by Spark Design Group to
manufacturing companies such as: Johnson & Johnson's Ortho-Clinical
Diagnostics, Harris RF / Communications, and others.
